17th Annual 33 Foundation Fall Event

The 33 Foundation is honored to introduce Timmy Mathisen as the beneficiary of our 17th Annual Fall Event.

On July 3, 2025, shortly after returning home from serving in the Army, Timmy sustained a C5/6 spinal cord injury after diving into shallow water. Following emergency surgery and months of hospitalization and rehabilitation, he began the long road to recovery.

Athletic, driven, and independent, Timmy has always been a quiet leader. After returning home from the Army, he completed EMT training and began pursuing his dream of becoming a firefighter.

Today, recovery is Timmy’s full-time job. He attends Journey Forward, Project Walk, and Spaulding Rehabilitation while continuing therapy at home, showing up each day with determination and a drive for greater strength and independence.

This year, the 33 Foundation received more than 15 beneficiary nominations from across the country. Among them was one that carried special meaning: Timmy was nominated by Chet, our 2025 beneficiary.

Timmy’s perseverance and commitment to recovery embody the heart of our mission. And through Chet’s nomination, we were reminded that the impact of this community doesn’t end when the event does. It continues forward.

Proceeds from the 17th Annual 33 Foundation Fall Event on October 5, 2026, will support Timmy’s continued recovery and help provide resources as he works toward greater independence.

Special Update from 2025 Beneficiary, Chet Johnston:

"Since being the 2025 recipient, I have been able to go from three days at Journey Forward a week to four days a week for two hours at a time. I have made great progress since October, being able to crawl completely independent, and now focusing on standing without any knee support and walking in a walker without any help bringing each leg through.

The vehicle I was able to purchase thanks to you all has completely opened up my life, and my parents as well. It’s allowed my mother to go back to work, as I now take myself to rehab. I can freely go out to eat, go to movies, and see family and friends without being tied down to my parents or brothers schedules, which has been a terrific milestone on this journey.

The 33 Foundation and all of your support has had a profound impact on my socially, but more importantly has resulted in furthering me along the path to getting back on my feet far more than I could’ve ever imagined."
